Brut
Brut
Brut was created and introduced by the French fragrance house, Faberge, in 1964. It was originally marketed as an aftershave and later expanded into deoderants, body sprays, and other grooming products. In 1989, Faberge was acquired by Unilever and the Brut brand of grooming products continues to be distributed globally.

Scent Description
Brut was another breakthrough moment in the evolution of barbershop fragrances. Although it maintained the basic structure of a Fougère with the presence of lavender, tonka bean (which contains coumarin) and oakmoss, it was also one of the earliest men's fragrances to popularize ylang-ylang which added a fruity tone to the spiciness of predecessors such as Old Spice. Later Fougères employed a similar technique by incorporating fruity notes such as pineapple in Creed Aventus, YSL Y, and Razorock's Mudder Focker, or blackcurrant in Creed's Silver Mountain Water. Brut also added basil to boost its herbaceousness. If anything, Brut was even more Fougère-esque than Old Spice, while maintaining an equally clean and masculine tone. The wild popularity of Brut continues to this day with many drug stores and supermarkets keeping it on the shelf. Although it may lack an air of exclusivity due to its ubiquity, it remains a classic scent suitable for any setting and any occasion.

I love the fragrance - brings me back to my childhood as this was what my father wore for years (after he gave up Lilac Vegetal). I can’t give it more stars because it’s nothing but fragrance - I want my splashes to have some skin food.
An absolute classic it is in rotation. My son won';t use it because he says its a "dad" frag, but I love it as it reminds me of my dad and hoiw the bathroom smelled after he shaved. Admit it, a barbershop fragrance is a natural for any man. I remember loving the smell when my dad took me for a haircut and all the guys were there talking sports and smelling like "Brut." And it is inexpensive. I only gave 4 stars because its not exclusive. I should give it 5.
