Tabac
Tabac
Tabac was introduced in 1959 by Maurer & Wirtz from Stolberg Germany, a company founded by Michael Maurer and Andreas Wirtz in 1845. Today, Maurer & Wirtz is a subsidiary of the Dalli Group, which owns other brands inluding Irisch Moos, Tosca, 4711, and others.

Scent Description
The Tabac scent harkens back to a time when men were meant to be restrained and fragrances were meant to be pleasant and gentile. The scent is somewhat stamped in time, evoking an earlier generation. Although its a Fresh-Aromatic, a cousin to a Fougere, it is much more floral with strong contributions from the Geranium, Petitgrain, and Lavendar notes, which combined make for a complex and extremely flowery bouquet. To call it your granddad's perfume would be unfair, but to call it classic, bordering on dated, would not.

Base Description
Tabac originally started with a tallow base but switched to a vegan base in 2021. The current iteration produces a lighter lather with less slickness and is primarily formulated using Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Shea Butter and Glycerin. Primarily sold as a stick, Tabac is an ideal soap for face latherers and produces a creamy lather with above average cushion, stability and density and good slickness. The small form factor makes it ideal for travelling.

Classic “clean” scent that offers good protection and glide. Good value.
Tabac is the one of the best soaps you can get especially considering the price point even the non tallow version has superb performance.
Very "soapy" scent, makes a good lather.
While the soap works and provides cusion and slip, I don’t like the fragrance. It reminds me of a commercial laundry soap.
