Founded in 2017 in Ansonia, Connecticut, Ariana & Evans is the passion project of fragrance auteur Peter Charkalis, its name blending his own and his daughters’ middle names. Guided by the Japanese principle of kaizen—continuous improvement—Charkalis brings an eclectic, globe-spanning sensibility to scents that are bold, sophisticated, and delightfully unconventional. Scent Description
Although many tobacco-vanilla fragrances have been popular throughout the 20th century, including Caron Tabac Blond in 1919 and Guerlain Habit Rouge in 1965, the scent which has come to define the genre is Tom Ford's Tabacco Vanille from 2007, famous for its warm, spicy, and slightly gourmand characteristics. Yet even with such venerable predecessors, Ariana & Evan's The Novelist makes a strong contribution by introducing orange blossom, iris, and juniper to the mix which adds a juicy sweetness, further amplifying the vanilla and adding an air of whimsy which is both youthful and modern. For a fresh take on a time-tested classic, The Novelist is a succulent and loamy fragrance which is warm, comforting, and masculine. Although, it can be worn in almost any setting, its strength and sultriness might be assertive for the workplace.
