Dynamic Pulse

Released in 1997, Dynamic Pulse was composed by noted perfumer Philippe Bousseton—whose career spans Dana, Fontarome, and ultimately Takasago—and is credited with Van Cleef & Arpels Tsar (1989) and Davidoff Cool Water Wave (2007). The fragrance opens with a brisk, citrus-forward accord of mandarin and grapefruit, brightened by mint, before settling into the warmth of labdanum and the cool green of patchouli. While it nods to the chypre tradition—labdanum and patchouli providing structure—it diverges from classic lemon-bergamot archetypes by embracing the 1990s “New Fruits” palette; much like CK One (1994), mango and other tropical facets lend a transparent, contemporary freshness. Some wearers find an echo of the wet-shaving stalwart Proraso Green, likely from mint and cedar-leaf tones that read as eucalyptus, while the assertive mandarin–grapefruit–mango-apple thread conveys the bright, fruity confidence later popularized in compositions such as Creed Aventus. Widely available at drugstores, Dynamic Pulse is a clean, sporty, outdoors-friendly scent that feels both modern and timeless—and it remains one of the best values in aftershaves.
