ShaveSplash: The Rabbit Hole Privacy Policy (App)

ShaveSplash (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the ShaveSplash: The Rabbit Hole mobile application (the “App”).

Information We Collect and Where It’s Stored

Data stored on your device

By default, the App stores your shaving data locally on your device, including:

Shave logs and ratings

Inventory of shaving products (your shave den)

Custom score parameters

Personal notes and preferences

This on-device data stays on your device unless you choose to use features that transmit data off-device, such as ShaveSplash AI (described below).

Data you provide when using ShaveSplash AI (off-device processing)

If you use ShaveSplash AI, the App will transmit certain data off your device so the AI can generate a response.

This may include:

The question or text you submit to ShaveSplash AI

Relevant shave log data (for example: products used, dates, ratings, notes)

Relevant shave den data (for example: your saved razors, blades, brushes, soaps, aftershaves, and related attributes)

 

ShaveSplash AI also includes a ShaveSplash encyclopedia and AI instructions created by ShaveSplash that do not contain your personal data.

How We Use Your Information

 

We use your information to provide the App’s functionality, including:

Displaying your shave logs and den

Calculating and showing insights within the App

Exporting your data when you choose Export User Data in Settings

Providing AI responses when you choose to use ShaveSplash AI

We do not sell your personal data.

ShaveSplash AI, Consent, and Third-Party Sharing

ShaveSplash AI is optional. Before ShaveSplash AI transmits your data off-device, the App will ask for your permission. You can withdraw permission at any time in the App’s Settings (AI Data Sharing), which will stop future AI requests from being sent.

 

Who your data is sent to

When you use ShaveSplash AI and provide permission, relevant data (described above) is sent to:

Vibecode (backend service provider that routes the AI request), and then OpenAI (AI service provider) to generate the response

What this data is used for

 

Your data is used only to generate the AI response you requested and to maintain the reliability and security of the AI feature.

 

OpenAI data handling (API)

 

OpenAI may retain prompts and responses for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and does not use API data to train models by default.

Vendor protection

 

We use service providers to help deliver ShaveSplash AI and require them to protect personal data and process it only for providing their services.

Third-Party Data Sharing (Non-AI)

 

Outside of ShaveSplash AI, we do not sell, rent, or share your shave logs or den data with third parties for advertising.

Tracking and Analytics

 

We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use the App for targeted advertising.

 

Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information. Your on-device data is stored locally on your device. For ShaveSplash AI, data is transmitted over encrypted connections when sent to service providers.

 

We recommend keeping your device secure with a passcode or biometric authentication.

 

Data Retention

 

On-device data: remains on your device until you delete it (for example, via App settings) or uninstall the App.

ShaveSplash AI data: is transmitted to Vibecode and OpenAI to generate responses. OpenAI may retain prompts and responses for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring.

 

Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your data:

Export your data at any time using Export User Data in Settings

Delete your local App data through App settings

Turn ShaveSplash AI on or off in Settings (AI Data Sharing)

Children’s Privacy

ShaveSplash is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

When you open links to ShaveSplash.com from within the App (such as product reviews and membership information), those pages are governed by the website’s privacy policy, which may differ from this App policy.

 

Changes to This Privacy Policy

 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page and the “Last Updated” date will be revised.
