Gentleman's Nod
Gentleman's Nod was created by Chris Christiansen in 2019. Chris is a self-taught perfumer and soap maker, who first fell in love with Wet Shaving in 2012, and after a few years in shaving industry sales decided to go it alone. After starting with a soap lab in his basement, today Gentleman's Nod operates a commercial facility in Omaha, Nebraska where all of its products are produced. Gentleman's Nod has a reputation for premium grooming products with unique fragrances and high quality ingredients, which include shave soaps, splashes, beard oil, balm, and EDPs.
Scent Description
As the name implies, Calabria is meant to be an olfactory joureny to the coast of Southern Italy, and indeed it is. Many Italian-inspired fragrances attempt to harness the brightness and freshness of citrus, and while others have strong notes of Lemon and Bergamot, few achieve the mouth-watering juicyness captured in the top notes of Calabria which include Grapefruit, Blackcurrant, Ginger, and of course Bergamot. The subtle addition of Tea adds a small dark note providing an earthiness which deepens and grounds the bouquet. A trio of florals including Jasmine, Osmanthus, and Everlasting (Immortelle), add a hint of sweet perfume and further complexity. Calabria is a uniquely joyous interpretation of a well-worn theme making it a welcome addition to any fragrance collection. A perfect warm weather scent which exhibits sophistication and style and can be worn on any occasion and in most settings, although most appropriate for home, play, and the outdoors.

The Lux soap base is a cornucopia of beneficial ingredients, holding the record for the most skin foods of any base tested on ShaveSplash. In addition to some more common skin foods such as Shea Butter, Kokum Butter, and Aloe, it includes Rhassoul Clay, a mineral rich skin softener, Goat Milk, a soothing moisturizer, rich in vitmains, Albumen, which has tightening and moisturizing benefits, Yogurt, which is both a moisturizer and mild exfoliate, and Candelilla Wax, a protective barrier. The result is a lather which is luscious and creamy, but firm enough to be considered Structured. Density, Slickness and Stability are all high, and the strong structure makes for outstanding Cushion. A complex and rich formula which creates a premium and luxurious soap with a nourishing and well-moisturized post-shave feel.
