Mike's Natural Soaps was started by Mike Rytel in Portland, Oregon. In 2009, while still in graduate school pursuing a degree in classical philology Mike started dabbling with making soap for himself as a hobby. After sharing his soaps with family and friends, a business emerged and quickly grew until he opened his online store in 2011 and decided to pursue soapmaking fulltime. Today, Mike's Natural Soaps is reknowned for using high quality, natural ingredients, and offers a full line of tallow-based shave soaps, bath soaps, and shampoo bars.
Scent Description
The scent is as the name describes, mainly an Orange accord with a Black Pepper spiciness which adds complexity and depth. The Cedar is very subtle, just the faintest hint in the background. Overall, the blend is juicy, fresh and clean. An invigorating way to start the day which pairs easily with with most citrusy splashes, particularly those which lean towards Orange or Grapefruit.

Base Description
The base of Mike's Natural Soaps shave soap is tallow-based and famous for its natural and wholesome ingredients which include a panoply of skin foods including Shea Butter, Kokum Butter, Avocado Oil, Kaolin Clay, Vitamin E, and Glycerin. Mike also adds Lanolin, a natural humectant derived from sheep wool which conditions the skins and creates a luxurious post-shave feel. The lather is characterized by ShaveSplash as creamy, due to the rich tallow content, and has ample cushion and good slickness. Whereas some soaps produce a denser or more stable lather due to additives which Mike foregoes, Mike's emphasis on natural ingredients results in a lather which is light, non-greasy, and protective, which as the name of his company implies feels natural and healthy. A high quality product which feels unique in the marketplace.
