Moon Soaps

Moon is the passion project of Melody and Zachary Kent. All of the soaps are made in their home based apothecary studio in Corralitos, California. Even the tallow is rendered by themselves from the cuttings brought home by Zachary from his job (presumably as a butcher). The company's philosophy is to source local and sustainable materials when possible and emphasizes high quality ingredients with properties which are beneficial to the skin. Many of the fragrances are inspired by from nature and the sites around their home on the shores of the Pacific in Central California. The product line is more than just shave soaps, including alcohol-based aftershaves, bar soaps, lip balms, body creams, and scrubs.

Base Description

Moon Soap’s shave base stands out as one of the richest and most protective among artisan offerings.
Its formulation features a generous blend of beef tallow, stearic acid, and a trio of nourishing butters—kokum, mango, and shea—delivering a dense, creamy lather with exceptional cushion and moisture. Castor oil adds further emollient properties, helping to soften and soothe the skin, while glycerin acts as a humectant, drawing in hydration and enhancing slickness throughout the shave. The result is a high-performance shave soap with outstanding protection and a superb post-shave feel—everything one expects from a premium artisan formula.
