Taylor of Old Bond Street
Taylor of Old Bond Street (TOBS) is as classic an English shave soap as you can find. Founded in 1854 by Jeremiah Taylor who opened his first barbershop on Old Bond Street in London, his first products were botanical-based hair and beard products which quickly became popular among Victorian gentlemen. TOBS remains a family run busines to this day, although its moved its flagship store to Jermyn Street. The product line has expanded to include shaving soaps, aftershaves, colognes, razors, brushes, a full line of bath and body care, and many various grooming accesories. It's most famous scents include St. James, Eton College, and Sandalwood, which are beloved througout the wet shaving community.
Scent Description
There's not getting around it, Sandalwood is old-school. But old-school in only the best way. The first impression is one of classic, luxury, high-quality, soap. Although named Sandalwood, the bouquet is extremely floral with strong contributions from the Lavendar, Carnation and Orange Blossom. The Vetiver, Sandalwood, Musk and Patchouli blend nicely to add complexity, but the main impression is one of sweet flowers. A perfect scent for the classic gentleman with a penchant for nostalgia, and since the strength and longevity are mild it can be worn in almost any setting.

Base Description
Taylor of Old Bond Street (TOBS) is unique among shaving soaps in that it is most famous for creams, not croaps. The creams are sold in a tub and are softer than a croap, closer to a more traditional shaving cream such as one from a can. The TOBS base is famous for being one of the easiest and fastest to whip into a lather, which is rich and heavy, with good slickness and high stability. Because the lather tends to be very structured it's characterized by ShaveSplash as Structured, but with excellent density and cushion. Although not known for using natural ingredients or including exotic skin foods the post-shave feel is silky and smooth.
